Frauenkirche, Nuremberg

My next novel is The Nuremberg Puzzle. The release date is the 17th March, 2015.

The conspiracy Sean and Isabel uncovered in Manhattan is developed further in The Nuremberg Puzzle. Nuremberg was, as you know, the ceremonial birthplace of the Nazi party. Sean and Isabel have returned to their quiet life in London. Isabel has started working for a new Wikileaks type organisation. Sean is working on a new project.

Sean flies to Nuremberg to attend an archaeological conference. As he takes a walk through the city, he notices stickers on lamp posts. They read Dritten Mal Glück – third time lucky. They are, he discovers, part of a violent neo-Nazi campaign against foreigners.

Sean is offered a visit to a long sealed section of the Nazi Congress Hall in the southern suburbs of Nuremberg the following day. The woman who takes him there is a professor from the Free University of Nuremberg, Eleni Kibre, an Ethiopian lady he knew from his university days. Sean sees the same Dritten Mal Glück stickers near the Congress Hall. Eleni is angry. She has been hounded by local facists, but is determined not to let them win. Sean drops her at her apartment. They see another sticker. She rips it off the lamp post.

Sean heads back into the city. There is a neo-Nazi demonstration going that day to commemorate the air raid on Nuremberg by the RAF in 1944. That night attack became known as Black Friday to Bomber Command in England. The Nazi’s believed an occult force protected Nuremberg.

An hour later there is knock on Sean’s hotel room door. It is the police. Eleni has been murdered, grotesquely. Sean was the last person to see her alive.

The Nuremberg Puzzle reveals why Eleni was murdered and how a top European banker is seeking to bring about another genocidal holocaust. The enduring and sleazy legacy of the Nazi party, at all levels of German society, is exposed and a medieval secret, with links to ancient Germanic myths, is uncovered.

Why did I set the next episode of the series in Nuremberg?

The evil ideology that inspired the Nazi’s has not gone away. Murderous violence against Jews, outcasts and foreigners has been a recurring theme in German society for many centuries, re-emerging at moments of great stress.

If you would like to put your name down for a competition to win an early free copy of The Nuremberg Puzzle click here. You will also be informed of sale pricing dates for The Nuremberg Puzzle.

The Nuremberg Puzzle will be shorter than previous puzzle series novels, as it is being released six months after The Manhattan Puzzle, where previous novels were released a year apart. It is also, I must warn you, darker than the previous novels. My original intention with Harper Collins was to have a black border around the novel.

If you want to follow the story so far you can order The Istanbul Puzzle here, The Jerusalem Puzzle here and The Manhattan Puzzle here.
